It is not difficult to see why the Robb Report Magazine says that Tony Capparelli is taking sports art to another level. Whether working in airbrush, pencil, silk-screen, watercolor or pastel, Tony has entered into the life of sports today. Whether sketching Monica Seles courtside at the Mahwah Tennis Classic, or back in the studio executing on the Boston Garden or Montreal Forum, investors in sports art have seen why Tony is a player in the life of sports today.
His current print "Big Blue Afternoon" is a hit with New York Giant fans throughout the country, and his paintings have been presented to NHL players by team owners and Commissioner Gary Bettman. He has also painted Cal Ripken, Jr. and Brooks Robinson and is recognized as the prominent artist in the collectible phone card industry, having painted images for the Coca Cola 600, Red Dog and Busch Lite races, as well as many other Nascar events. Tony's paintings of Marlena Dietrich is part of the first ever Sprint Gold Telecard Series. A painting of Frank Thomas gracing an Ameritech Gold Phone Card is currently being marketed by Powell Associates in New York City.
Tony's paintings have been part of the festivities at the Rawlings Gold Glove Awards Dinner, as well as the 100th Anniversary Celebration at the Babe Ruth Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. Tony's artwork is on display at Mickey Mantle's Restaurant in New York City and has been a recipient of the Beckett Sports Gallery Award.
Tony is now finishing another painting for the New Jersey Devils, which will be presented by the owner Dr. John McMullen and Commissioner Gary Bettman. It is no wonder why the Robb Report Magazine says, "If you're going to invest in sports art it's not enough to know the teams; you have to know the players."
