Tony Capparelli paints live for televised coverage of historic NHL Draft

Tony Capparelli painted live during televised coverage for the 2019 NHL Draft for Madison Square Garden Networks .

Tony contributed to MSG150’s special live broadcast, which saw both the NJ Devils and NY Rangers choosing first and second overall in this historic draft.

The league, Metropolitan area and MSG Studios were abuzz waiting for the much-hyped, first, overall selection which saw the Devils land coveted US prospect Jack Hughes. Upon this selection, Tony began painting Hughes in a Devils home uniform . Devils fans gathered on Championship Plaza at Newark’s Prudential Center to view the televised event, which saw a thunderous applause follow with the Devils selection of Hughes.

Across the street from MSG Studio’s, Rangers fans gathered for the second overall pick, with the Rangers choosing consensus international prospect Kaapo Kakko from Finland. The Ranger crowd at the Garden was ecstatic, as Kappo is seen as a possible first-year contributer to the Blueshirts rebuilding program. On hand for the fans (wearing Rangers jerseys) were NY Knicks 2019 #1 Draft choice RJ Barrett.

The artwork was completed during the broadcast showing both Hughes and Kakko in the uniforms of their new NHL teams.

Tony also created artworks for the MSGNetworks social media coverage of the NY Islanders during their 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs run.
